What the Heck is Aquafaba?

Aquafaba is the thick liquid that results from cooking beans, such as chickpeas, in water for an extended period of time. It's the translucent sauce like liquid you probably rinse down the drain when you open a can of chickpeas. And, in vegan cooking, it's become the gold mine for making airy meringues or butter creams and more.
