If you're trying vegan out for the first time or just want to start eating healthier once in awhile. Try out this amazing no beef steak recipe! Its full of flavor and the most tender piece of meat you'll ever have. You will probably trick all your meat eater friends on this recipe. It may take awhile to prepare, but its really worth it. Top it with a BBQ sauce or your favorite steak sauce. Or toss it in panko and deep fry it for a "chicken" fried steak! Whatever your little heart desires! You will not be disappointed I promise!
No Beef Steaks
Ingredients
1 tsp black coarse pepper
2 tsp granulated garlic
1 tsp granulated onion
1 tsp smoke paprika
2 tsp thyme
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
2 cups vital gluten flour
1 tbsp liquid smoke
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
1 cup water
Directions:
1. First get your steam pot ready. Have a large saucepan with about 1-2 inch. of water (add 1/2 cup soy sauce and 1 tbsp liquid smoke). Place a steamer stand. (or something to lift the meat suspended above the water) Then turn your burner on low heat and place a lid on top.
2. Now, in a mixing bowl, place all the no beef seasoning mix, liquid smoke, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil or plain sesame oil, and the water. Mix that together until well blended.
3. Add the gluten flour all at once and mix until it forms a dough. Knead the dough a couple times over in your hands. Then pat it down in to a flat circle. The thickness is up to you. But I leave it about 1 1/2 to 2" thick. And cut in to 4 pieces. Slightly flatten the pieces in your hands.

4. Place the steak pieces in the steamer on the steamer stand. You don't want the pieces completely submerged in the water. You want it hovering above the water. Cover with a lid. Steam the steaks for about 35 minutes.
5. Then take the pieces and sear on a oiled skillet or the BBQ.
**Optional: Preheat the oven for 350F and Finish them in the oven for 20-30 minutes. If you desire a drier texture.

Take them out of the oven or the grill and add some of your favorite BBQ sauce or steak sauce or whatever you normally eat your steaks with!

So delicious you will want seconds! They freeze well too!
