5 Ingredients - Non Dairy Cream Sauce

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Looking for a non dairy cream sauce to go with your favorite pasta or make a creamy alfredo sauce?

This is a creamy sauce made out of potato! You wouldn't even know it! Check this recipe out, customize it the way you like it, by adding garlic or spices and jalapenos to make a Mexican queso. It's not just non dairy, but it's vegan, gluten free, and grain free!

I've been experimenting with this creamy sauce to add to my old favorite dishes! I've used this in my green bean casserole, tuna pasta, and my absolute favorite dish, macaroni and cheese. Whatever you want to add some cheesiness too. It comes out creamy and delicious!

Non Dairy Creamy Sauce

Dairy Free - Gluten Free - Grain free - Vegan

Yields: 4 servings

Ready in 30 minutes

Ingredients

2 cups cooked russet potato, peeled and diced ( abt 1 large potato)

1 cup full fat coconut milk (out of the can)

1/2 cup nutritional yeast

1 tsp sea salt + 1/4 tsp

1 ½ tsp apple cider vinegar

Preparation

  1. First, peel and dice your potatoes. Place them in a small pot and boil them in water, cook them until a fork can easily poke through the potato. Drain the water from the potatoes.

  2. In the same pot, place all the ingredients in the bowl and with a hand blender, blend until all of the ingredients are fully combined and thicken. Add extra salt, if you think it needs more to your taste.

  3. If you don’t have a hand blender, use a food processor. Blend until smooth. Continue to cook if you want it thicker.

  4. Pour over your favorite pasta and enjoy!

Tips

If you want the sauce to stretch like cheese, you can add 1-2 tsp tapioca flour. Add it in before you start mixing the ingredients with the blender.

Believe it or not, but tapioca flour is from the yuca family which is the cassava root family. Another fun fact, is that arrow root is part of the yuca family as well. This ingredient is used for thickening sauces, pie fillings, and anything else you want to thicken up.

I also want to try to make cheesecake out of this sauce. I think it would be good! I'll let you know how it works out! If I post it, you know it came out alright! ;)
